Carol June Warner

February 11, 1941 — August 18, 2017

Carol June (Johnson) Warner, 76, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, August 18, 2017, at Elwood Care Center. She was born February 11, 1941 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Edythe (Hay) and Ray Johnson. She was an only child, and the mother of 5 children; twins, Delores Marie & Diana Joyce; Son, Garry Ray; youngest daughter Denise Arlene; and her baby boy David Wade. She had 15 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She married 3 wonderful men; Charles Gilmore, Harrison Thompson, and her one true love, Robert "Roberto" Warner, because "sometimes it takes a while to get it right". June and Robert married in Ft. Smith, Arkansas in November 1986. And like so many of us, his heart will never heal from this loss. June was never considered a quiet soul, a blending wallflower. She was an absolute beauty, fiercely independent, and had an opinion on everything. She loved back roads, her cars, traveling, rescuing stray animals & most of all, she loved her family. She would help a stranger the same as she would a family member. June enjoyed reading, her flowers and shocking people with her colorful sign language. June had a way of making complete strangers feel like they'd been lifelong friends. And if you were one of the fortunate ones that she called family, there wasn't a thing you couldn't ask of her. It is impossible to sum up her life in a few paragraphs because she lived a lifetime of great stories. She will be missed by her traveling companions Zippy of 22 years and his sidekick Izzy, along with all of her family and friends. June was proceeded in death by both parents. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Warner of Lexington, NE; her daughters Delores Webster of Sallisaw, OK; Diana & Terry Hickey of Charlotte, NC; Denise & Toby Norvell of Sallisaw, OK; sons Garry & Diane Thompson of Union Mills, IN; David Thompson of Sallisaw; and 1 daughter by marriage Niki & Rod Stewart of Georgia. A heartfelt Thank you to Elwood Care Center & RuralMed for being so wonderful during this difficult time for the family. It was June’s wishes for cremation and there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
