Brian Mejia Paxtor, 12, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on July 24, 2023, in Gosper County as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on August 18, 2010, in Lexington, Nebraska to Jesus Mejia and Ana Paxtor Mejia. Brian touched the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter, kind heart, and love for adventure. Brian was a very respectful, responsible and a disciplined young boy.


From a young age, Brian demonstrated an eagerness to learn and explore the world. He attended preschool in Lexington before moving to Chicago for elementary school. During this time, he started his career as a soccer player with the team Super Hero Squad. In fifth grade, he returned to Lexington and continued his education at Pershing Elementary before transitioning to Lexington Middle School. 

Brians’ favorite soccer player was Messi and he loved watching Barcelona and Argentina play. His favorite hobbies included fishing with his dad and brother, playing his PS4 with friends and his favorite colors were blue and red. He spent his last few days hanging out with his closest friends enjoying tfe fair and playing basketball.

His favorite foods included Baleadas, Red Mexican Tamales, McDonald's McChicken's, s'mores and Reece's Peanut Butter Cups – treats that always brought a smile to his face. His favorite drinks were Dr. Pepper and Cool Blue Gatorade.

Brian cherished spending time with friends and engaging in many sports activities. From kicking a soccer ball around with the Lexington Unifut Soccer Club to playing basketball with his friends, he always enjoyed the companionship that came with team sports. As accomplished as he was in various aspects of his life, Brian's proudest accomplishments were achieved through his involvement in the Lexington Unifut Soccer Club. Over the last three years, he proudly represented the Lex Dreamers U14A&B teams carrying #29 in honor of his admiration towards Kylian Mbappé. His dedication, skill, and unwavering spirit on the field made him a valuable teammate and a source of inspiration for others.

Brian Mejia Paxtor graced our lives with his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and unwavering love for those around him. 

He is survived by his parents, Jesus Mejia and Ana Paxtor Mejia of Lexington, NE, his brother Elmer Mejia Paxtor, and his sisters Wendy Mejia Paxtor and Kayla Mejia Paxtor – all of Lexington. His grandparents, Celestina Chiguil and Margarito Lopez of Lexington, Marcos Mejia and Dominga Hernandez of Honduras also mourn his loss.

In addition to his immediate family, Brian is remembered fondly by his aunts: Rosmy Lopez (Giovanni Valente) of Kearney, Ashley Chiguil of Lexington, Josefina Chiguil of Chicago, Illinois; Carmela Saquic (Pedro Chiguil) of Chicago; Oneyda Mejia of Chicago; Isabella Paxtor of Guatemala. His uncles – Nazario Lopez of Lexington, Jhonatan Sajche of Georgia; Marco Tulio Mejia of Chicago; Jose Ovidio Mejia of Honduras – all who also hold cherished memories with Brian. He will be deeply missed by numerous cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched with kindness and joy.

Visitation will be held on August 7, 2023, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Rosary to follow at 7 P.M.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 8, 2023, at 2:30 P.M. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook Page.

 Following Mass, interment will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Lexington.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.

Nació el 18 de agosto de 2010 en Lexington, Nebraska, hijo de Jesús Mejía y Ana Paxtor Mejía. Brian tocó las vidas de quienes lo rodeaban con su risa contagiosa, su corazón amable y su amor por la aventura. Brian era un nino muy respetoso, responsable y tenia mucha disciplina.

Desde muy joven, Brian demostró un afán por aprender y explorar el mundo. Asistió al preescolar en Lexington antes de mudarse a Chicago para la escuela primaria. Durante su tiempo en Chicago fue parte del equipo Superhero Squad, donde inicio su carera como futbolista. Regresó a Lexington para continuar su educación en quinto grado en Pershing Elementary antes de hacer la transición a Lexington Middle School.

El jugador de fútbol favorito de Brian era Messi y sus equipos favoritos eran Barcelona y Argentina. Sus pasatiempos favoritos incluían pescar con su padre y su hermano, jugar su PS4 con amigos y su colores favoritos eran azul y rojo. Pasó sus últimos días disfrutando el rato con sus amigos más cercanos en la feria y jugando baloncesto.
