Brian D. Kopf was born on December 13, 1955 in Lexington, Nebraska, to Ferd and Wanda Kopf. He passed away at the family ranch near Eddyville, Nebraska, on October 06, 2018. Brian attended school at District 44R, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1974. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He married Rhonda Teel in Lexington, Nebraska, in the early 80’s, and they were later divorced. Brian lived and worked in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the Dallas, Texas area, frequently returning to the family ranch to work with his parents. He returned full time to work the ranch in 1983. After his father's death in 1996, Brian managed the ranch until his death. His mother had passed away in 2017. In recent years Brian was the recipient of one of fifty national awards through the American Red Angus Association for his cattle operation. Brian enjoyed all sports, and ran track in high school. His track team was listed in the Nebraska Sports Hall of Fame one of those years. Brian kept active in sports throughout his life, participating in league softball, bowling, tennis, and basketball. He travelled with his Lexington bowling team to Las Vegas several times to bowl in the National championships. He was an avid Fantasy Football player, and always enjoyed good old rock and roll music. Brian loved working with nature, and loved his animals and all other creatures, especially his beloved cats. They miss him so much. Brian was blessed with very good friends over the years. You know who you are, and he will miss you greatly. Brian is survived by his brother, Randall Kopf (Nancy) of Lexington; sister, Candace (Candy) Kopf of Broken Bow; nieces, Tiffany Kopf of Colorado, and Brandie (Jason) Connerley of Elkhorn; grand nieces and nephews, Page and Zoey Connerley, Josh Connerley, and Saul Buhrman; and extended family. Brian's parents preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, any memorials are suggested to Paw Prints in Dawson County or the Buffalo Lutheran Church. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
