Barbara E. Golden

October 23, 1942 — May 13, 2022

Barbara E. Golden (Peck), 79, of Lexington, Nebraska passed from this life on Friday, May 13th, 2022 at Plum Creek Care Center.

She was born on October 23, 1942 in Blue Island, IL to Charley and Nellie (Bullis) Peck. Most of her childhood was spent in the Dawson County area of Nebraska. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1961. On November 16, 1961, she married Erling “Jim” Howell. Four children were blessed to this union: Laura, Theresa, Marsha, and Thomas. She later married Kenneth E. Golden on August 16, 1974. A daughter, Heather, was born of this union. She was preceded in death by daughters Laura, Theresa, and a grandson, Richard.

Barbara was a free-spirited and strong-willed woman who marched to her own drum most of the time, which was one thing that was dearly loved about her. She was not one to follow the crowd, as the backroads were where her adventurer spirit was most alive. She loved to garden, write, and spend time in the great outdoors. She was known for her uncanny sense of humor and her amazing laugh, when she smiled, it would light up a room.

She will be remembered for the mark she left on those left to cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Johnson Lake Inlet on May 20, 2022 at 1pm (North side of Inlet, spots #7 & #8).

“I have not left you; you will hear me in the call of the wild, feel me by the breeze on your face, and find me in the quietness of your thoughts when you are alone.” – MM
