Agnes J. Chandler

Agnes J. Chandler, 92 of Elwood, Nebraska, formerly of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born on January 25, 1933, in Eddyville, Nebraska to Tom and Martha (Sullivan) Hagan. She attended school in Overton. Agnes was united in marriage to Edsel Paul Chandler on September 11, 1951, in Overton. Four children were blessed to this marriage: Robert, Roger, Corinne and Shirley. They made their home in Cozad, Nebraska before settling in Smithfield for many years.

Agnes and Edsel were known for always growing a big garden. She enjoyed reading, working on word search puzzles and playing solitaire. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a soft spot in her heart for her fur babies, her cat, Tiger and dog, Spot. Everyone knew that on Wednesday's, Agnes would have some delicious baked goods ready for her family to enjoy with her favorite black coffee.

Survivors include her children, Robert Chandler of Smithfield, Corinne Reiss of Smithfield, Roger (Lana) Chandler of Loomis, and Shirley (Mark) Terry of Denton; grandchildren, Dustin (Kim) Reiss, Eric Chandler, Ben (Carrie) Reiss, Devon (Tanner) Schultz, Darci Terry, and eight great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel; sisters, Viola Cline, Clara Schlotman, Lois Hagan, and brothers, Ralph Hagan and Bill Hagan; grandsons, Jonathon and David Chandler; and great-granddaughter, Karlie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, with family receiving guests from 2-4 p.m.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
