Aeota "Doll" Nielsen, 101, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Elwood Care Center.
She was born on November 1, 1924, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Raymond and Lora (Grinstead) Dillman. She attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1943. Doll was united in marriage to Milo Koehn on January 26, 1943, in Norton, Kansas. They spent 28 wonderful years together until his passing. On May 12, 1981, Doll was later united in marriage to Paul Nielsen in Lexington.
Doll was a lifetime resident of Lexington and was recently honored as the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. She was a longtime member of the Plum Creek Quilters Guild and Basket Cases. She was also a part of the VFW Auxiliary, a past deacon in the church and was at one time the President of the Danish Sisterhood and a former President of the Steering Committee for the Grand Generation Center in Lexington. Doll was well known for her work as a caregiver for different area residents for many years as well as being instrumental in starting the Handi bus for the Dawson County area. Doll was one of the founders of the Grand Generation Center.
Doll was an avid quilter and seamstress. At first, it was out of necessity but quickly became her favorite hobby. She was recognized for creating a quilt for the Math Club in the Lexington High School out of designs the students made. She owned an acre garden where she tended to her plants and flowers often, selling her produce at the grocery store. She loved life and spending quality time with her family and friends. Doll was incredibly patient and had strong morals which she lovingly passed down to her children.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Frank (Vickey) Koehn of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, Kandy (Richard) Anderson of Alva, Oklahoma, and Susan (Joe) Kreski of Omaha, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Doll was preceded in death by her husbands, Milo Koehn and Paul Nielsen; children, Connie Jewett and John Koehn, and twin sons in infancy, Billy and Bobby Koehn.
