Minnie Clara Frieda Hanson, 81, of Oconto, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
She was born January 9, 1929, at Ideal, South Dakota to John Albert and Elsie Anna Hilda (Schwarz) Ropers. Minnie attended school at Dallas, South Dakota.
Minnie moved to the Oconto area in 1948 and worked for the Ted Menke family and the Potter family prior to marrying William Hanson on April 12, 1950, at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.
She helped her husband with the farming and ranching operation near Oconto and was always active in her church. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Aide Association for Lutherans and held several offices in the American Legion Auxiliary.
Minnie never knew a stranger and always enjoyed spending time with her family and making crocheted doilies for family and friends.
Survivors include one son: Luke and his wife Candy Hanson of Oconto, Nebraska
Two daughters: Loretta Copper of Callaway, Nebraska
Lois Bennett of Oconto, Nebraska
Fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Two brothers: Louie Ropers of Sargent, Nebraska
Henry Ropers of Rockville, Nebraska
Three sisters: Anna Graczyk of Sumner, Nebraska
Helen Barta of Lexington, Nebraska
Betty Barta of Lexington, Nebraska
One son-in-law: Charles Beason of Overton, Nebraska
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; one son, Lee and two daughters; Lucy and Leona and son-in-law, Alfred Copper, Sr.
Funeral Services will be Friday, June 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo with Pastor Victor Rasmussen officiating.
Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery at Oconto, Nebraska
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Auxiliary of Oconto or the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.
