Sarah Ellen Major

Sarah Ellen Major, 92, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, August 15, 2917, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born January 16, 1925, in Cozad, Nebraska, to George P. and Gertrude E. (Griffith) Parsons. Sarah attended school in Cozad where she graduated high school. She was united in marriage to James E. Major on January 16, 1946. The couple made their home at Eustis, Nebraska until 1949, when they moved to Lexington. Sarah was involved with the Boy Scouts in her younger years, and was always active in the First Christian Church in Lexington. She is survived by her children, Clinton E. Major of Lexington, Nebraska, Virginia Sue Gates of Gainesville, Texas, and Cassandra Kay Carlson of Lexington, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James on November 6, 1998, and nine siblings. It was Sarah’s wishes for cremation. The family has carried out those wishes. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Graveside service will be held at a later date at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
