Ken was born October 20, 1929, in Lexington, Nebraska to Lloyd Kanton and Gladys Mabel (Orthman) Kring. He attended school in Lexington, and instead of graduating with his class, which would have been in 1947, he joined the United States Navy. He would later earn his GED. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Wallace on January 18, 1953, at N.A.S., North Island, San Diego, California. Two daughters were blessed to this marriage; Lori & Kathy. Upon his discharge, the family returned to Lexington where he worked 21+ years for N.P.P.D., retiring in 1991. He then drove for Reynolds-Love Funeral Home, along with Marilyn, and their furry friend, Chloe. Upon retirement, Ken enjoyed spending time at the Grand Generation Center, traveling to meet his Navy buddies, and their families, at the yearly U.S.S. Boxer Reunions. The couple visited all 50 states. Ken was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mercury Club, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and VFW. Ken was one-of-a-kind! He could tell a joke, make a friend, be the biggest teaser you ever saw, and had the biggest heart of anyone you ever met.
