Gordon Lee Bonde

Gordon Lee Bonde, 73, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Callaway District Hospital. Gordon was born on March 1, 1944 to George and Emelyn (Anderson) Bonde. He attended Stop Table School and graduated with the Callaway High School class of 1963. Gordon entered the service in April of 1966. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in April of 1969. He returned to the family farm and worked alongside his parents and brother, Bob. He worked for several farmers in the area over the years. He also drove a fertilizer truck for Farmland Service Co-op. Gordon was a lifetime member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church, receiving his 50 year membership pin in 2008. Gordon moved to Kearney in 2002 to be closer to his brother. He enjoyed going to flee markets and second hand stores to collect toy tractors and implements. He also enjoyed taking long drives that returned him home each night. He returned to Callaway in 2015, and resided at the Callaway Good Life Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. It was Gordon’s wishes his body be cremated. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Callaway with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Morning Star Methodist Church or Callaway American Legion Bryson-Booker Post #59.
