Arthur William "Bill" Holliday

Arthur William “Bill” Holliday, 90, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington. Bill was born May 18, 1926, in Amherst, Nebraska, to Fred and Edna (Freeze) Holliday. He attended Amherst Public schools. He was united in marriage to Elaine Johnson on October 19, 1949, in Lexington, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2011. The couple was blessed with two sons; Rod and Dan. Bill worked in the farming business until 1979, when he went to work for Orthman Manufacturing. He retired from Orthman’s in the mid 1990’s. He and Elaine also had a mowing company, mowing many lawns around the Lexington area. Infact, Bill was still mowing some lawns just a year ago. He loved being outdoors during the warm months. You could always find Bill at A&D Cafe every morning having coffee with his buddies. He so enjoyed getting the news of the day. Bill had a gentle nature, and a sweet smile that made his eyes just sparkle. He will be truly missed by his loving family, and friends. Bill is survived by his sons; Rod Holliday of Waxahachie, Texas and Dan Holliday of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren; Stacey (Nate) Loose of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Matt (Shayla) Holliday of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Rodney, Jr. (Suzanne) Holliday of Waxahachie, Texas; many great-grandchildren; two brothers; Jess Holliday of San Antonio, Texas and Dave Holliday of Winnebago, Minnesota; two sisters; Meryl Kneeland of Lexington, Nebraska, and Mardi Griffis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife, by his parents; two sisters, Jean and Judy, and one grandson. Funeral Services will be Monday, February 20, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
