Mary W. Brummet, 91, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living in Lexington. She was born September 25, 1925, the eldest of three children to Jon T. and Ada E. (Humphrey) Loveday, in Brigstock, Ketering, North Hampton, England. She grew up on her father’s dairy farm and graduated from Brigstock High School. In 1943, she met Sergeant Richard Brummet, who was stationed in the area in the United States Air Force. They were united in marriage January 19, 1944, in Coady, England. They had two children, Marlene, Born in Coady, and Michael, born in Lexington. On April 10, 1945, Mary boarded the S.S. Queen Mary at South Hampton, England with nine-month old Marlene for the seven day trip to New York. She and Marlene then transferred to a train for the 4 day trip to Lexington where she saw Richard for the first time in 12 months. Mary worked for the Lexington Hospital, which later became Tri-County Hospital for 21 years, retiring as Housekeeping supervisor. She then worked for Plum Creek Medical Group for 12 years, and finished her career working for KRVN Radio for 12 years. Survivors include her children; Marlene Fellers of Mesa, Arizona; Michael Brummet of Central City, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Derick Brummet, Nicole Brummet, and Sheli (Fellers) (Jim) Garringer all of Lexington, Nebraska, and Troy (Corey) Fellers of Lexington, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Margo Hock of Lincoln, Nebraska, Caleb Hock of Phoenix, Arizona, and Logan (Sarah) Fellers of Lexington, Nebraska; great-great-grandson, Kayden Cansler of Lincoln, Nebraska; one niece; Jane Mary Hawkins of Brigstock, England, Special friends, Meredith and Bill Orthman of Lexington, Nebraska; as well as other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard; sisters, Margaret Bealey and Dorothy Hawkins of England. Dorothy died on December 17, 2016, and Mary never fully recovered from that loss. It was Mary’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Brookdale Senior Living in Lexington with Reverend Kay Knudson officiating. Inurnment will be held privately prior in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
