Richard "Rick" Wayne Hill

Richard W. “Rick” Hill, 58, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, January 14, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. He was born December 21, 1958, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Raymond & Cecelia “May” (Shewey) Hill. The family moved to Norton, Kansas, the following spring where he attended school and was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1972, the family moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where Rick finished his schooling, graduating in 1978. On June 17, 1978 he married Dawn Hunter, they daughters were born to this union: Nicole, Heather & Rikki. They would later divorce. Rick started working at the Lexington Mill and Elevator in 1978, where he was severely injured due to an explosion in January of 1979. He then went onto work for Paulsen Construction and other various jobs until his health forced him to retire from the work force. He is survived by his mother, Cecelia “May” Keen of Kearney, Nebraska; three daughters, Nicole (Josh) Boomhower of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Heather Vanderpool of Cozad, Nebraska & Rikki (Manny) Alvarez of Lexington, Nebraska; grandchildren, Chasity, Hunter, Savannah, Dalton, Samantha, Aundrea & Luiz; two great-grandchildren, Stanley & Mavis; brothers, Bob (Deb) Hill of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Kenneth (Diane) Hill of North Plate & Larry Hill of North Platte, Nebraska; Step-brother, Jerry Keen of Kearney, Nebraska; step-sisters, Sheila (Dave) Prosser of Wendell, North Carolina, Joyce Keen of Kearney, Nebraska & Stacey Epley of Elkhorn, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Rick was preceded in death by his father, step-father, two brothers and one step-brother. Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel. There will be no visitation as Rick wished to be cremated. The family request to dress casual for the Celebration of Rick’s life. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
