Irene Vieyra-Lopez, 65, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington. She was surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born October 14, 1950, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Manuel and Mary (Ibarra) Vieyra. She graduated from Wellington High School in Wellington, Kansas, in 1968. She was the proud mother of five boys and one girl. The love that Irene shared with her children is indescribable, as you can only understand it if you have been touched by her love, kindness, determination, and dedication to the well-being of her family. Irene had an amazing relationship with her twenty-one grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and had enough love to go around for each of them. Irene enjoyed being around young people, so she started working at the high school as a para-educator. She then moved on to encourage the kids to continue their education by encouraging and educating the importance of attendance in school as Lexington High School Attendance Secretary. She will be very missed by her family, her co-workers, her friends, and all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children; Michael and wife Cindy Vieyra, Patrick and wife Kim Shelburn, Robert and wife Angie Shelburn, all of Wichita, Kansas, Brian Shelburn of North Platte, Nebraska, Junior Lopez, and, Lisa Nava both of Lexington, Nebraska; twenty-one grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; siblings; Roy Vieyra, George Vieyra, Pat and wife Chris Vieyra, and Bob and wife Mary Vieyra all of North Platte, Nebraska, Jennie Garvin, Anita Sanchez, Helen and husband Alex Sanchez, Delores and husband Jesse Lira, Gina and husband Reuben Rangel, all of North Platte, Nebraska, Terri and huband Don Boese of Overland Park, Kansas, Nellie and husband Len Tominaga of Downey, California; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Vieyra-Gomez and Manuel Vieyra. It was Irene’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Jose Chavez officiating.
