Jeremiah John Smith

Jeremiah John Smith, 35, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, May 27, 2016 in Lexington. Jeremiah was born November 17, 1980, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Bernard and Lucinda (Oyler) Smith. He was a 1999 graduate of Elwood High School. On June 12, 2008, he married Tara Lee in Lexington. Two boys were born to this union: Bradley and Charlie. When Jeremiah and Tara met he was working as a cook at RC’s Galley at Johnson Lake. He then went into the construction business. Jeremiah worked on a crew that traveled the United States building Buckle Clothing Stores. At the time of his death, Jeremiah was the Assistant Manager at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jeremiah was a talented artist. He was good at woodworking and mechanics. He was a jack of all trades. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; Tara Smith of Lexington, Nebraska; his boys; Bradley and Charlie of Lexington, Nebraska; parents, Cindy (Marv) Pape of San Antonio, Texas; Bernard (Kelly) Smith of Elwood, Nebraska; brother, Phillip (Maranda) Smith of Holdrege, Nebraska; sister, Tess Smith of Goodland, Kansas; grandparents, Bill and Mae Smith of Elwood, Nebraska; half-brothers, Clint Smith of Elwood, Nebraska and Billie Smith of Hawaii; half-sister, Brandi (Brian) Thornburg of Lexington, Nebraska; also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. Preceding Jeremiah in death was baby Angel; grandparents, Phil and Abba Oyler, and half-sister Jessica Smith. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June, 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
