Dorothy E. Foster, 96, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born April 9, 1920, in Smithfield, Nebraska, to Vernon and Lula (Robb) Way. She attended school and graduated from Smithfield High School with the class of 1938. She was united in marriage to Orval L. Foster on October 1, 1939, in Smithfield. Three sons were blessed to this marriage; Dennis, Steven, and Ronald. After their marriage, Orval served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Following his discharge he returned to Nebraska where the couple lived in Lexington. They then moved to North Platte, Kearney, and returned to Lexington in 1978, where they lived until their deaths. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, her flower gardens, and reading. She so enjoyed family visits. Survivors include two sons; Dennis and wife Merlinda Foster of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Ronald Foster of North Platte, Nebraska; four grandchildren; Dede Ann English of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dennis Lee Foster, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Belinda English of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Melinda Nelson of Wilmington, North Carolina; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mildred Spuhler of Lexington, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orval; son, Steven; daughter-in-law, Janice; brothers, Raymond and Eldon Way; and, sister, Audrey McClees. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Unit Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Dyton Owen officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska. A Memorial has been established in her name.
