Lois Marie Bennett, 60, of Oconto, Nebraska, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, at CHI Health Good Samaritan-Kearney, Nebraska. She was born July 19, 1955, to William and Minnie (Ropers) Hanson. She was born while Minnie was in labor and crossing the bridge going into Callaway. She graduated from Oconto High School in 1973 and from Kearney State College on December 17, 1976, with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She was married to Keith Bennett on November 9, l985. To this union one son was born, Jacob. They later divorced. Her passions were the family farm, which she ran, teaching, and reading. She was a member of First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. She was baptized July 31, 1955 and confirmed March 30, 1969. She was a member of Oconto American Legion Auxiliary and LWML. She taught in Elba for a couple of years and then was a substitute teacher in Lexington and surrounding areas for 20 years. Left to mourn her passing include her son, Jacob Bennett, his girlfriend and her boys, Sylvia, Michael, and Kolby of Oconto, Nebraska; sister, Loretta Copper of Lexington, Nebraska; one brother, Luke (Candy) Hanson of Ansley, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lee; and two sisters, Lucy and Leona; and, brother-in-law, Alfred Copper. Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Oconto Community Center with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
