Bonnie Kay Allen

Bonnie Kay Allen, 67, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. She was born January 22, 1940, at Grand Island, Nebraska, to Othel Keith and Ida Kay (Carpenter) Maybon. Bonnie’s mother died during childbirth and Bonnie was raised by her stepmother, Opal Phoebe Medbery. She was baptized in to the Methodist Church as a young girl. Bonnie moved with her family as a young girl to Fullerton, Nebraska, where she attended school. She graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty in Grand Island in 1962, and returned to Fullerton where she opened her own shop call the Klip-n-Kurl. The family then moved to Omaha for a time and then to Lexington in 1972. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Allen, Jr. in June of 1973, at Lexington. She owned and operated a beauty shop at Johnson Lake. Bonnie always loved being around people. She loved to dance, read, have people in and never, ever met a stranger. Her house was always full with family and friends. She will be so very missed. Survivors include three daughters: Tammey (Steve) Thornburg of Lexington, Nebraska Tina (Alfonso) Araujo of Tulsa, Oklahoma Traci (Kenny) Roy of Dallas, Texas One brother: Ronald Maybon of Oxford, Nebraska One sister: Judy Vaughn of Oxford, Nebraska Six grandchildren: Kimberly and Monte Thornburg of Dallas, Texas; Dustin Araujo of Collensville, Oklahoma; Amee Thomas of Collensville, Oklahoma; Ethan and Hanna Roy of Dallas, Texas. Two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Brandon Thomas of Collensville, Oklahoma Many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, in 2000 and one sister, Donna Lynn. It was Bonnie’s wishes her body be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Gruhn, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. There will be no visitation and Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
