Paul A. Andersen, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln. He was born May 13, 1926, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Anders Gade and Catherine (Smith) Andersen. Paul grew up on the ranch northwest of Lexington and was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1943. Following graduation, he ranched and farmed and in 1951, was called to serve his Country during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Ann Kopf on August 10, 1952, at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. Paul was Honorably discharged on April 5, 1953. He returned to Dawson County and lived on the ranch until the time of his death. When asked about Paul’s hobbies, you could say, that “work was his play.” He loved working the cattle and hogs and going to the sale barn and visiting with Harold Stevens and the “gang.” He enjoyed attending his childrens’and grandchildren’s activities. As a younger man he and Ann enjoyed square dancing and playing pinochle and pitch. He was a member of the American Legion, St. John’s Cemetery Association, the Sandhills Cattle Association, a past member of the Dawson County Extension Board and a former member of the District #44R school board. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years: Ann Andersen of Lexington, Nebraska One son: Kerry (Susan) Andersen of Sachse, Texas Two daughters: Angie (Rodney) Sall of Lexington, Nebraska Kristy (John) Toy of Waverly, Nebraska One brother: Sid (Marlene) Andersen of Lexington, Nebraska Nine grandchildren: Blake & Brett Sall; Andrea & Aaron Andersen; Andrew Toy; Abigail Layne Hamilton, Parker Hamilton, Abagail Grace Andersen and Claire Ann Andersen. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kyle; son, Kevin; and two stepsisters; Evelyn Buswell and Helen Demyanovich. Services will be Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Cozad, Nebraska with Kathy Gundell, PMA and Pastor Terry Pool, officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Cozad, Nebraska with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Donor’s Choice.
