Katherine L. (Katie) Neubauer, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Holdrege, Nebraska, on October 24, 1918, to Hays A. and Mabel A. (Davis) Meyers. She attended school in Holdrege, Nebraska, and graduated in 1936. Katie was employed by the K-K Company, when she met Ford Neubauer, who had moved from his home in Hildreth, Nebraska. In 1938, Katie was transferred to the company’s Branch Office in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was employed until 1941. When she returned to Holdrege, Nebraska and became engaged to Ford, who was then employed by D.C.P.P. District in Lexington, Nebraska. On August 9, 1942, they were married in Holdrege and became residents of Lexington. Katie was employed by the Stewart Law Office in Lexington from 1943, until she retired in 1980. She continued to work for the law office part-time until she again retired in 1993. Katie and Ford joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1944, and Katie served as a Deacon. She enjoyed her work in the church and spent countless hours helping families with their funeral dinners. She was a past president of the VFW Auxiliary, Pats Matron of Dawson Chapter #33, Order of the Eastern Star, and was the first president of the Nebraska Legal Secretaries Association. She enjoyed golfing, spending time at their lake cabin and having coffee with friends. Survivors include one sister: Joan Blew of Mt. Hope, Kansas Four nieces, two nephews and many, many friends. Katie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ford; one brother and one sister. Services will be Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Friday, November 2, 2007, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
