Lynn W. Fox, 57, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at his home at Johnson Lake. Lynn was born to Wesley and Evelyn (Taylor) Fox on November 16, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the oldest of 4 brothers and grew up in Postville, Iowa where he attended and graduated from Postville High School. He was also a member of the 4-H and FFA. In 1964, he met Diane Gehring at a high school dance at the Dreamland Ballroom. As school sweethearts, they married on December 23, 1967. In 1970, Lynn was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease. He went through radiation treatment and was told he had 5 years to live. Twenty-three years later, he began to suffer the repercussions of the radiation treatments which resulted in damaging his heart and lungs. His strength, perseverance and faith in God were some of the factors that granted him another fourteen years of life. Lynn and his family moved to Cozad, Nebraska in 1971. He served as Worshipful Master of the Masonic Temple #133 for two terms. In 1981, they moved to Johnson Lake where they currently reside. Lynn was a member of the SID Board, and the Walking Trail Committee, and also owned and operated Lynn’s Mobile Concrete for 26 years. He served as a church elder for the Lexington Christian Church in Lexington. Lynn enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and fishing with his family as well as working in his numerous flower gardens. He particularly enjoyed feeding the birds that frequented his gardens. Traveling was also a delight for Lynn, as he enjoyed collecting lizard figurines from each destination. Lynn will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Diane Fox of Johnson Lake, Nebraska One daughter: Kimberly and husband Randy Perlis of Aurora, Colorado One son: Nicholas Fox and girlfriend Julie Lund of Aurora, Colorado Three grandchildren: Lauren, Tony, and Michelle Perlis of Aurora, Colorado Parents: Wesley and Evelyn Fox of Johnson Lake, Nebraska Father-in-law and stepmother-in-law: Lowell and Barb Gehring of Kearney, Nebraska Mother-in-law: Elaine Gehring of Luana, Iowa Three brothers: Ryan and wife Sally Fox of Montrose, Colorado Kenny and Wally Fox both of Johnson Lake, Nebraska Numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Lynn was preceded in death by his grandparents and one cousin. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Christian Church in Lexington with Pastor Kyron C. BeDunnah officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery at Elwood, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Friday, October 19, 2007, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
