Elmer R. Frerichs, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
He was born March 9, 1925, at Culbertson, Nebraska to William H. and Mabel (Christensen) Frerichs.
Elmer grew up in the Culbertson area where he attended school. In 1942, he joined the United States Navy where he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He traveled the world three times and took troops to Normandy and to the Panama Canal. He took 23 trips on two ships. He was even fortunate enough to see Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation in the 1950’s.
He was united in marriage to LeArdis Keith on April 15, 1953, at Newport, Rhode Island, one day before he shipped out.
The couple lived in McCook, Nebraska until moving to Lexington in 1964. He worked for CBI National Hay at Lexington and Progressive Hay Mill in Overton, Nebraska.
Elmer enjoyed spending time with the family and having coffee with his friends. He always had a little grin on his face and a sparkle in his eye. His memory will be cherished by his family and friends.

Three daughters: Katherine Rauch of Grand Island, Nebraska
Janice Cassels of Marietta, Oklahoma
Anna Marie Yeutter of Fremont, Nebraska
Nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Five sisters: Thelma Moorhouse of Culbertson, Nebraska
Pauline Horeck of McCook, Nebraska
Doris Popp of Colby, Kansas
Viola Steinbeck of National City, California
Emma Nelson of Yuma, Arizona
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Billy Joe, six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 19, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Michael Gruhn officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
