Todd Kanda

Todd T. Kanda, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. He was born June 17, 1920, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Tokuichi and Hatsuyo (Kawamoto) Kanda. Todd grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1940. He farmed as a young man and worked for the railroad for a time. But, his dream was always to return home and become a carpenter. He was a self-taught carpenter and worked many years at his trade. He owned numerous rental properties around Lexington and enjoyed the upkeep of these properties. Todd was a member of the NRA and the Horseless Carriage Club of America. He received 2nd place in June of 1956, for his horseless carriage. Also, in 1947, Todd was given his own Patent from the United States Department of Commerce for his invention of a Traction means for Tractors. He always enjoyed antiques and just “fiddling with his hands” and keeping busy. He was a patient man with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Survivors include three brothers: Masami (Sumiko) Kanda of Denver, Colorado Ted Kanda of Lexington, Nebraska George (Faye) Kanda of Brighton, Colorado Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Todd was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Yasuo, Sam and Ken. Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend John Craig, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2007, from 2-5 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
