Faud Nick Maloley

U.S. Veteran

Faud Nick Maloley, 92, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.

Faud was born May 7, 1920, on the family farm six miles east of Lexington, Nebraska to George M. and Mary M. (Malooley). He attended school at District #17 and helped on the farm until he was drafted in the United States Army on January 10, 1942. He went to Basic Training at Fort Laramie, Wyoming. While in Basic Training he trained truck drivers and was then sent to Tucson, Arizona and then shipped overseas to England. Faud was honorably discharged on November 23, 1945. Upon his release from military service he returned to the States and farmed for two years.

He met the love of his life, Wanda Maalouli in Lebanon. They were married March 25, 1950, in Damascus, Syria. The couple returned to Nebraska where Faud farmed until 1953, when they moved to Oconto and owned and operated M & L Department Store until 1956. They then returned to the family farm where he farmed with his brothers.

Faud was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather (Gido) and great-grandfather. He had a heart of gold and never knew a stranger. He loved gardening, playing pitch, playing his harmonica, folding napkins, feeding birds and squirrels.

Faud was a faithful member of St George Orthodox Church in Kearney and the VFW.
